Many times I miss the simplicity of doing things the “old way.” A great reminder to step away from screens and reconnect with tangible moments. I recently went back to cooking from recipes in print rather then an app and browsing books at the library instead of scrolling online for my next read. Enjoy whatever new things you discover!
love these ideas! it’s always a balance of screens and physical media but i think those are beautiful ways to start ❤️ also love a cozy good print recipe!
I love this wholeheartedly. Even though I am not entirely “anti-technology,” doing activities on something tangible is refreshing. People need to be mindful that technology is meant to enhance our lives, not replace them.
yes exactly this! there’s a fine balance between using technology while still being able to live our fullest lives, without it usurping all of our free time for sure. tysm for reading ❤️❤️❤️
i listen to cds whenever i can help it! and i love the feel of flipping though a magazine; it’s my pinterest replacement. same with collecting wrappers, receipts, paper bookmarks, matchbooks. i glue them all inside a notebook. i go antiquing for sixties erotica, unique salt & pepper shakers, and fur coats. i smoke cigarettes over vapes (ha). instead of scrolling, i read (which i’ve always had a love for). restoring offline inspiration and analog media into my life has been so magical!
all of these are so excellent, i’m so obsessed with the collecting and antiquing!! and yes to cigs over vapes ;) your life sounds so fabulous! thank you so much for reading ❤️❤️❤️
of course, i love your writing voice! it feels personal, but like you’re catching up with an old friend who made it big! and thank you, i’m secretly boring but hide behind a dwarfing fur-lined leather jacket
Reinstated my library card and using a flip phone, now :) I actually feel dopamine, now, since it’s not a constant barrage while doomscrolling.
Physical media is awesome but I think it brings a financial element (to buy) and a space element (to store). These may be limiting factors for some; but if we lean into community and public resources we (as a collective) can ensure a shared, wholesome experience.
yes i think it’s the rush of the delayed gratification! i’m such a big fan of the library too - i’m cycling through 3 books at the moment. def agree with you on finances being a limiting factor too! i think as we see a counterculture against these raging companies, we’ll (hopefully) go back to accessible community resources of sharing, trading and caring. ❤️
love this! there’s so many lovely thrift and antique stores to haunt that have affordable and pre-loved versions of these too - another one of my fave activities :)
slowly embracing analog myself by creating a small cd and dvd collection!! and physical journaling will always be my go to. and reading physical books is simply an irreplaceable feeling for me!! whats ur favorite form of analog activity/media??

Wow! So true. This is why I switch my phone into black and white mode. You’ve inspired me more!
Yes, I'm working on reading more books instead of scrolling, and collecting and listening to records!
